I love Diet Dr. Pepper. I like it in all forms, but sometimes canned is too fizzy. If I drink canned I like it to be the Walmart brand, Diet Dr. Thunder. I call Diet Dr. Pepper DDP, as I think many people do. But if you're really my friend, you'll know what I'm talking about when I say I want some DDT.
The way I like DDP best is from a fountain. Swig used to be my preferred vendor, because it's fun to go through the drive-thru with friends. I don't have as much expendable income as I used to, so I've had to cut back on my Swigging. Some of the employees still recognize me though, which gives me just the right amount of shame.
Over the summer I went to Maverik a lot, because they had dollar fountain drinks. It was just a summer promotion, though, so now I don't go there as much. Maverik has a comforting atmosphere to me, almost like a second home. Sometimes I get refills there, because they are still pretty cheap, and I just love Maverik so much.
A great new place I found is 7-Eleven. Okay obviously 7-Eleven isn't new, but I recently rediscovered it. They have dollar refills, and I don't just mean a dollar before tax. The drink is 94 cents, so it is exactly a dollar after tax. I appreciate this because I'm from Alaska and we don't have sales tax, so it always takes me by surprise. I think sales tax is the worst kind of bummer. But like the saying goes, the best way to get over your disappointment about sales tax is to get under a gas-station roof and buy a soda.
